Quotes From “The Midnight Library” That Changed My Perspective
Matt Haig’s powerful words that heal and show the way.

I have a love-hate relationship with The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
When I first tried to read it, I couldn’t go beyond the first few chapters.
The protagonist’s depressive thoughts and suicidal ideation were triggering. To protect my sanity, I had to put the book down.
A couple of years later, I heard many reader friends gush over how beautiful the book was and how much it impacted their lives.
I was in a better place mentally then, and I felt brave enough to give the book another try.
This time around, once I was past the first few pages, I was able to grasp the true beauty of the book. Yes, it starts with suicide, but this is a book about the beauty of life, and how many reasons one can find to stay alive, if only one looks hard enough.
This is a book about hope, about forgiving yourself for past mistakes, about giving yourself grace when you’re stuck in survival mode.
It taught me how to be comfortable making difficult choices, and gave me the closure I didn’t know I needed.
