Have You *Really* Listened to the Rain?

It’s the most beautiful music nature has given us for free.

I’ve heard so many people say they love listening to the rain, but have you tried really listening to it?

It’s like listening to music — only with a different beat and rhythm every moment.

If you let your mind roam free, listening to the sound of the rain can be a meditative experience.

The sound ebbs and flows in waves. There’s the consistent glob glob glob of the raindrops hitting a surface. Many poets have captured its essence beautifully. But there’s also the jhee jheeeee jheeee sounds of the accumulated water as it follows the slope of the land and flows to the nearest drain or river.

The two elements of the rain sounds keep changing every moment, making a pattern so intricate, I doubt the music made by humans could ever replicate it.

Have you noticed that the sound of the raindrops hitting the leaves is so different from the sound when they hit the ground?

If you live in an urban setting, the sound of the raindrops hitting each rooftop is different. They change every instant, determined by so many factors like the material the rooftop is made of, the height of the building, the direction of the wind, etc.
