PS: I am starting to LOVE Alizayd too. The djinn-marid-ifrit mentions are reminding me of another amazing fantasy series I had read: The Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud (please tell me you've read it so we can fangirl together! :D). There is mention of Suleiman in a similar role there too, although he is called Solomon in Stroud's world.
